Along with beautiful scenery, Canton has various amenities, including restaurants, breweries, coffee shops, and boutiques. It is also home to the Cherokee County Historical Society and the Cherokee Arts Center. Canton also hosts many local events and festivals throughout the year, so there’s never a dull moment in this charming town.

With its charming downtown and scenic parks, living in Canton feels like living in a storybook. There’s no better way to explore what Canton than on foot. For many Canton residents, one of the best places to shop is The Mill at Etowah, a collection of locally-owned shops and specialty boutiques. Nestled between the downtown square and the Etowah River, The Mill at Etowah was formerly a denim factory. Today, it is home to some of the area’s best shops, restaurants, and breweries.

Located within The Mill at Etowah is Reformation Brewery, a microbrewery best known for its locally-sourced beer and live music events. Beyond its in-house beers and seltzers, Reformation Brewery has spectacular spirits, coffee, and pastries. It’s also a famous hangout for those who work remotely and want to unwind.

To start your day off on a high note, check out Bizarre Coffee. Located in the heart of downtown Canton, Bizarre Coffee features fresh-roasted coffee, healthy breakfast entrees, and specialty drinks.

For a romantic night on the town, check out J Michael’s Prime, Canton’s premier steakhouse. With its rustic ambiance, impressive wine selection, and spectacular menu, J. Michael’s Prime is considered the crowning jewel of Canton’s dining scene.
 

Things to Do

Surrounded by some of the most stunning natural scenery in Northern Georgia, there’s no better town for outdoor lovers than Canton. Located just a short distance from downtown Canton is Boling Park, a serene nature park featuring multiple ball fields, playgrounds, and wooded trails. Boling Park is nestled along the Etowah River, adding to its natural beauty. The park is also known for its events and festivals throughout the year, including the Annual Cherokee County Mother’s Day Powwow & Indian Festival, which is held every May.

Another popular outdoor destination is Lake Allatoona, a reservoir on the Etowah River. Lake Allatoona is known for its wildlife and is considered one of the area’s best camping sites.

Canton has two beautiful golf courses for those who enjoy hitting the greens: BridgeMill Athletic Club and Woodmont Golf and Country Club. BridgeMill Athletic Club, a semi-private club, features an 18-hole golf course, tennis courts, and a clubhouse. The Woodmont Golf and Country Club, one of North Atlanta’s premier courses, is a beautiful 18-hole course suited for all skill levels, from novice to professional.
